Sustainability at GAEA
Protecting the Land Behind Greek Olive Oil
True to our name, GAEA — Mother Earth — inspires the way we think about food, farming, and the future.
Our approach to sustainability begins in the olive grove and continues through production, packaging, and distribution. From supporting regenerative agriculture in Greece to reducing energy use and improving recyclability, we are continually working to reduce our environmental impact while protecting the quality of our Greek olive oil and olives.
Regenerative Olive Farming
Healthy olive groves begin with healthy soil.
GAEA supports its network of growers in adopting regenerative farming practices designed to improve soil health, encourage biodiversity, protect natural resources, and strengthen the long-term resilience of olive-growing ecosystems.
Our goal is to transition 100% of our farming network to regenerative farming practices by 2028.
Regenerative practices may include maintaining natural ground cover, supporting biodiversity, enriching soil naturally, and reducing unnecessary intervention in the olive grove.
For GAEA, regenerative agriculture is not only about producing olive oil today. It is about helping protect the land that future generations of Greek farmers will depend on.
Supporting Biodiversity
An olive grove is more than a place where olives grow. It is part of a wider Mediterranean ecosystem.
By encouraging farming practices that support healthier soils, natural vegetation, and biological diversity, we aim to help create more resilient agricultural landscapes around our olive groves.
This connection between agriculture and nature is central to our approach to sustainable Greek olive oil production.
Non-GMO Project Verified
Transparency is an essential part of responsible food production.
GAEA products are Non-GMO Project Verified, reflecting our commitment to ingredient integrity, traceability, and informed consumer choice.
More Responsible Packaging
Protecting food while reducing packaging impact is an ongoing challenge.
GAEA has invested in packaging innovation across its range, including 100% recyclable olive snack pouches, designed to protect freshness while reducing unnecessary packaging components.
We continue to evaluate packaging materials and formats with the goal of combining product protection, convenience, and improved environmental performance.
Lower-Impact Production in Greece
Sustainability continues beyond the olive grove and into our production facility in Agrinio, Greece.
Our ongoing environmental initiatives include:
-
Reducing energy consumption at our Agrinio production facility
-
Transitioning to energy-efficient lighting
-
On-site waste compacting and material separation
-
Recycling programs for packaging materials, paper, batteries, electronics, and printing consumables
-
Continual evaluation of production and packaging efficiency
From Greek Soil to Your Table
Every bottle of GAEA Extra Virgin Olive Oil begins with the land.
By supporting regenerative agriculture, responsible production, biodiversity, recyclable packaging, and long-term relationships with Greek farmers, we are working toward a food system that respects both the quality of the ingredients and the ecosystems that produce them.
For us, sustainability is not separate from quality.
It is part of how quality is created.
GAEA — Excellence Is in Our Nature.
